Unseen Creatures · The Fin Whale's Pulses

A fin whale produces 1-second pulses sweeping down from 23 to 18 Hz, every 7-26 seconds, sometimes alternating two intervals; the bouts last for hours, with rests between them. The pitch is three octaves (8 times) higher; first at real time, then 8 times faster (about 20 minutes, with a 2-minute rest). The intervals are representative. Not a recording: a representative synthesis built from the measurements in the sources. There is no claim of any effect.

The same recipe with another seed: the raindrops, the order of the birds or the path of the chords change; the rules and evidence level stay the same.

What do you hear?
hissy · dark · wide

2 layers, 2 sound engines; generated on this device every time it plays.

How is this sound made?

  1. Underwater−34 dB

Underwater · midnight zone (ambient sound generated on your device)

  2. Call−24 dB

Call · pure tone, 107 calls, 144-184 Hz

  • Reverb: hall, 22% mix

In the room you can listen to each layer on its own, change its settings and save it as your own recipe.

Sound is generated on this device in real time; no files are downloaded from a server. There is a 2 s fade-in at the start and a 0 min fade-out at the end.

Compare with another sound

Hear both at the same loudness; drag the slider to the middle and they blend.

These two sounds can't share one recipe (different tuning or effects): listen to the samples one after the other.

What do we know, what don't we know?

S · Soundscape, no claim

No health or mental-effect claim at all; it is simply a soundscape.

This session isn't linked to any claim of effect.

A session's level is the weakest of its linked claims; it is never raised by a strong but unrelated claim.
