Traditional / experimental practice
Threshold VII · Inner Horizon
Distance and closeness you can hear even with your eyes closed. At first you are in a small, closed room: close air, a steady tone. Over a few minutes the walls withdraw; a wide wind opens and the tone slowly recedes toward the horizon. It stays that way for a long while, then the layers thin out and the beat rises to close. Try to tell the near sounds from the far ones. The space is sound design, not a recording. An experimental ritual; you can stop at any time.
The same recipe with another seed: the raindrops, the order of the birds or the path of the chords change; the rules and evidence level stay the same.
A traditional or spiritual practice, not a scientific claim.
An experimental ritual. Avoid it if you have a history of dissociation, psychosis or severe anxiety. You can stop at any time.
Do not listen while driving or operating machinery.

Wind (ambient sound generated on your device)
- Beat → 5 Hz over 8 min
- Beat → 9 Hz over 5 min
- Spatial movement: sounds change position around your head; listen on headphones. This is not a binaural beat.
- Reverb: convolution, 30% mix
In the room you can listen to each layer on its own, change its settings and save it as your own recipe.
Sound is generated on this device in real time; no files are downloaded from a server. There is a 15 s fade-in at the start and a 2 min fade-out at the end.
Compare with another sound
Hear both at the same loudness; drag the slider to the middle and they blend.
Mixed in the middle, these two sounds would create an unlabelled binaural beat: the slider crosses the middle with a short crossfade.
8 trials, half of them the same sound; get at least 7 right and the difference is audible. The result stays on this device.
What do we know, what don't we know?
T · Traditional/spiritual practiceLast reviewed 9 October 2026
No scientific claim is made; it is offered as a cultural or personal practice.
A traditional or spiritual practice, not a scientific claim.
Sound protocols and out-of-body experiences
An experimental listening ritual; not a scientific claim, and it makes no claim of astral travel or of consciousness leaving the body.
Evidence level T: Traditional/spiritual practiceWhat do we know?
- Out-of-body experience is a described neurological phenomenon; research links it to a failure to integrate bodily sensory information at the brain's temporo-parietal junction.Blanke & Arzy 2005
What don't we know?
- Evidence gapThere is no controlled evidence that sound leads to astral travel or that consciousness separates from the body.

A session's level is the weakest of its linked claims; it is never raised by a strong but unrelated claim.
